You may need some plastic surgery in different parts of your body after major weight loss, as the one that people experience after bariatic surgery, diet or excercise. Excess of skin may develop around the face, neck, upper arms, breast, abdomen, buttocks and thighs and the body then take an irregular shape that Plastic Surgery can reshape. According to the amount of skin or fat reduced, the incisions change in size, but in general, your plastic surgeon will hide them as much as he or she can. Before AfterThe ProceduresThe most common situation in the face after dramatic weight loss includes dropping of the cheek pads and lossing of a defined jaw line, also, the neck could be sagging. Usually a face and neck lift are indicated, correction of the jowls and removing of the excess of skin. The incisions are placed in front and behind the ears, extending into the hair above making the scars the less visible posible. An arm lift can remove the excess of skin and fat in the upper arms, the incisions are placed in the inner arm from the elbow to the axilar area and sometimes on to the side of the chest according to the amount of skin or fat to be removed. Not all the time there is excess of skin, in those cases when is only excess of fat, liposuction could be considered. Breast lift or mastopexia is indicated if te breast are sagging, also breast implants could be recommended to improve shape and size. Incisions are usually placed around the nipple, and from the nipple to the crease under the breast, sometimes also horizontally along this crease. For the skin sagging in the inner thigh a medial thigh lift is performed and the incisions usually placed in the groin. Tummy tuck can remove excess of skin and fat deposits from the lower abdomen, the incisions are usually placed around the navus and above the pubic area. Sometimes there is an excess and sagging skin including abdomen, outer thighs, buttocks, hips and waist, then the removal of this skin can be performed with incisions extending completely around the body, a procedure called for some doctors a belt lipectomy. |
